Major Studies
Overview
The Center for Quantitative X-ray Imaging was designed to serve the broad needs of the regional research community. Studies range from simple internal structure characterization to major 4-D research projects in which internal processes are monitored and quantified. Subjects can be loosely divided into geological/geotechnical, biological/anthropological and materials. Below we summarize and list our clients and study areas and describe some of our major research projects
Client and Subject Summary
Our clients include six museums and national laboratories, eight energy companies, eight additional industrial companies, and
fourteen universi>ties. Within the Penn State Community we have worked with nine departments in five colleges.
The most common research studies performed to date have been in the areas of porous-media flow and anthropology. Industrial work
has been dominated by failure analysis studies. Close seconds to these are food science studies and materials science studies.
